On the eve of the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul (28.06.2024), the Pope’s Day seminar was organized at Don Bosco Theological Centre (DBTC), Kavarapettai, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. The second-year students of Theology organized the event with the able guidance and support of Fr. Anthony Loudusamy sdb, the Librarian and professor of Systematic Theology (DBTC). This year, the Pope’s Day seminar focused on the encyclical of late Pope Francis, Dilexit Nos, on the Human and Divine Love of the Heart of Jesus Christ..

The Seminar was inaugurated with prayer service led by Bro. Adeep and Fr. Emmanuel Maddichetty sdb, the Principal of DBTC welcomed the gathering and honoured the Chief guest Fr. Michael Augustine SCJ (Provincial, Priests of the sacred Heart of Jesus, Chennai). Bro. Ronald Edwin presented the history and the background and first two chapters of the encyclical, and Bro. Michael Allwin presented the summary of the chapters three to five. The Chief Guest Fr. Michael Augustine SJC, Provincial, Priests of Sacred Heart, Chennai, delivered the keynote address. In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of the document with the eight beatitudes in the model of Francis: Sanctity, Synodality, Sensitivity, Sincerity, Stability, Solidarity and Serenity.

Fr. Michael, the resource person of the seminar, Bros. Allwin and Ronald, (Speakers), Fr. Lourdusamy Anthony sdb (Librarian and Professor of Systematic Theology) were on the dais for the panel discussion. They clarified many doubts and answered thought-provoking questions raised by the participants on the seminar. Fr. Lourdusamy Anthony, the coordinator of the seminar moderated the panel discussion. Many Priests, religious, lay people and youngsters participated in the seminar and were involved actively in all the discussions. Fr. Stanley, the Register of DBTC thanked the coordinator and second year brothers for the success of the Pope’s day seminar.

The Pope’s Day Seminar 2025-2026 concluded with the Papal Anthem. Indeed this seminar was enriching and fruitful especially in understanding the pastoral meaning of Blessing.
