Don Bosco Theological Centre, Kavarapettai, Chennai - June 5, 2026

Don Bosco Theological Centre (DBTC), Kavarapettai, celebrated two significant milestones on June 5, 2026: the Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025-2026 and the First Convocation Day of the Institute.

The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Don Bosco SDB, Provincial and Moderator of DBTC. During the liturgy, the teaching faculty solemnly professed their faith and pledged to impart authentic Christian theology to the students with dedication and integrity.

The inaugural function was held in Don Bosco Hall and began with a soulful prayer song led by Dn. Arockia Dass, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Fr. Pathiaraj Rayappan SDB, Secretary of DBTC, welcomed the gathering and felicitated the chief guest, Fr. Don Bosco SDB. Subsequently, Fr. Emmanuel Maddichetty SDB, Principal of DBTC, presented a comprehensive report on the Academic Year 2024-2025. Fr. Provincial then released the Academic Calendar for the new academic year and handed over the first copy to Fr. Pathiaraj. All members of the teaching faculty were formally introduced and felicitated in appreciation of their commitment to theological education.

The Convocation Ceremony commenced with a grand academic procession, which included graduates who had completed the Baccalaureate in Theology, along with the Moderator, Principal, and Registrar of DBTC. A total of 14 students were awarded the Baccalaureate degree: 09 from the Chennai Province, 04 from the Trichy Province, and 01 from the Vincentian Congregation. Fr. Don Bosco, in his capacity as Moderator, felicitated each graduate in the presence of the Principal and Registrar.

Fr. Stalin Dhanraj, professor at DBTC, delivered the inaugural academic lecture on the theme: “Synodal Structures and Processes in Religious Life”. Following this, Fr. Don Bosco addressed the students, encouraging them to cultivate a deep thirst for theological inquiry and academic excellence.

The program also included a brief introduction of the new batch of first-year students: 11 in total - 04 from the Chennai Province, 05 from the Trichy Province, 01 from the New Delhi Province, and 01 from the Vincentian Congregation. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dn. Sajin and a concluding hymn in honour of St. John Bosco, leaving the participants inspired and spiritually enriched.
