(Perambur, Chennai – April 27, 2025) In celebration of the post-centennial Silver Jubilee of Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine Parish, the Marian Youth group of the parish organized an Archdiocesan-level inter-parish sports meet titled “Run, Jump, Play – Season II”. The event captured the youthful energy and pastoral vision of St. John Bosco, who envisioned the Salesian Oratory as a home, school, playground, and church—a place where young people are welcomed, accompanied, and empowered.

Held on the spacious grounds of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Perambur, the event brought together over 200 enthusiastic young participants from across the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, including teams from three Salesian parishes in Chennai.

The day was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jerome Cyril SDB, Youth Director of Lourdes Shrine Parish. The event featured a dynamic range of athletic and recreational competitions, including football, cricket, volleyball, throwball, tug of war, and carrom. Each game reflected the spirit of Salesian youth ministry—marked by joyful participation, teamwork, and mutual encouragement.

“Run, Jump, Play – Season II” was not only a sporting event, but a celebration of youthful vitality and community spirit. It offered a platform for young people to build friendships, grow in confidence, and experience the Church as a living, engaging, and formative presence in their lives. This memorable initiative by the Marian Youth stands as a testimony to the enduring legacy of Don Bosco’s dream—a Church that reaches the young where they are, and walks with them towards a future full of hope.
