RM with SMA in INM

The Sisters of Maria Auxilium was founded by Rev. Fr. M. C. Antony SDB through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the year 1976. The spirit of the Salesians is seen at work in the SMA Congregation through their Founder. Don Bosco had the dream of creating a vast movement of groups to evangelize and to work for the poor and abandoned. At present there are 31 Groups in the Salesian Family. The Salesian Family members live in communion with each other and share the same spirit but with specifically distinct vocations as they continue the Mission which Don Bosco began.

The SMA Congregation serves the poor and especially the girls and women from the under privileged sections of society. It had a humble beginning but with a noble cause. They are well established within a short span of 43 years with 134 professed members in the Congregation who are in 33 presences serving the Church. Sr. Josephine Selvi SMA is the Superior General of the Congregation who coordinates with the collaboration of four more Sisters which make up the SMA General Council.

The Rector Major was received warmly and felicitated by the Superior General along with the General Council members. There were also the lay collaborators FSMA (Friends of Sisters of Maria Auxilium) to welcome the Rector Major. He then addressed the Sisters in which he acknowledged that they do possess the Spirit of Don Bosco and they are loved by the SMA General Council for their work and enthusiasm. He asked them to grow in fidelity and to be close to the Eucharist for the Lord’s help will come at the right time when we seek His assistance. He insisted on maintaining and radiating a credible identity of religious life.

He expressed his desire to support them in their formative studies. Rev. Sr. Josephine Selvi SMA, the Superior General thanked the Rector Major for his availability and for his inspirational message. The visit came to a close with the Rector Major imparting the Blessing of Mary Help of Christians to all present.
