Let’s Football for Fr. Guezou

Fr. Guezou Decennial Memorial Football Tournament was conducted in Don Bosco Yellagiri Hills on 25 & 26 August 2018. Nineteen Teams from Salesian Tamil Nadu represented their Community for this Memorial Tournament. People who helped and who were helped by Fr. Guezou were honoured and Fr. Guezou's tireless mission was recalled.
    Nineteen Teams from Salesian Tamil Nadu, namely, Chennai and Tiruchy province teams, participated in this event. Among the nineteen teams one of the teams was from the local village. Previously the hill was known only for Kabbadi and Volleyball, but in near future it will be football! The defending champion is Madurai team. The Football match was under the supervision of Mr. Edwin Louis, without whom we would have not had this tournament in a quality way adhering the rules of FIFA. We followed the knockout method in the tournament. The weather condition was pleasant for the players to enjoy a good game.
    It was not just an annual feature but a social memorial event for Don Bosco Centre, Yellagiri Hills, to make Fr. Guezou and his mission to be made known to the Tamil Nadu Salesian presences. The 7th ever-rolling Trophy of Fr. Guezou's Memorial Tournament was organized by the Don Bosco Centre Yellagiri Hills. Thanks to the Sponsors who made this memorial event grand and success.

    In the title clash between DB Madurai & DB Basin Bridge Youth Centre(4-1). The Defending champions score four goals to keep the trophy to themselves and won the cup for the fourth time in the tournament. All the four teams were honoured with cash award and teams secured first two placFour teams were qualified for the semi-finals. They are Black Eagles (Local Village Team), Don Bosco Madurai, Don Bosco  College Dharmapuri, & Don Bosco Basin Bridge Youth Centre. And in the clash for title, DB Madurai & DB Basin Bridge where to fight a title. Don Bosco College Dharmapuri, got third prize and where chosen as the Disiplined team in the Tournament of Beautiful Game. Black Eagles won fourth prize in the tournament. es were given a kit bag too.

    This day was made momentus with the well wishers of Fr. Guezou and Benefactors of Our House to come together to honour Fr. Guezou's Tireless Service to the Poor and Marginalized people of Yellagiri Hills. Those esteemed guest in the daiz  made us happy and contented. This event creates a spark in the players to serve the people around them in the way they can. Which would eventually become a wildfire in their heart to help the poor people who are in their need, not for material help but for the accompaniment and belongingness.

    We as a Community strongly believe this Fr. Guezou Memorial Ever-rolling Trophy unites Salasian Tamil Nadu to come together to make known Fr. Guezou's untiring zeal to the whole world.
