The evening of 27th December 2023, was memorable event for the Salesians of Chennai Province as fifteen young Salesian deacons were ordained priests at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, Chennai, South India. Most. Rev. Dr. George Antonysamy, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore presided over the Eucharistic celebration and conferred the Ordination. The Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by Fr. Don Bosco Lourdusamy, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Chennai (INM), Fr. Agilan Saraprasadam, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy (INT), Fr. John Alexander, Vice-Provincial of Salesian Province of Chennai (INM) and more than 250 religious and diocesan priests. On this solemn occasion nearly 2300 faithful including parents and relatives of those ordained, religious sisters, parishioners and youngsters of various parishes participated in the priestly ordination. Among those who were ordained 13 belong to the Salesian Province of Chennai, 1 belongs to the Salesian Province of Tiruchy and 1 is a missionary belonging to Salesian Province of Paraguay. The whole event was well planned and executed by the Salesian Community and the Parishioners of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur.
