Lourdes Shrine Educare Scholarship for the year 2018 – 2019 was given to 367 students who are orphans, semi-orphans and extremely poor, belonging to Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine Parish, Perambur. Rev. Fr. Deva Joe, SDB, the Rector and Parish Priest distributed scholarship amounts to 52 students from English speaking community while 294 from Tamil speaking community in the presences of fathers, parish council members and other well-wishers.
Out of 367 beneficiaries, 225 are school going from L.K.G to 11th standard while 80 studying in various colleges (Loyola College, Stella Maris college, Women Christian College, Agarsen College, Queen Mary’s college, Ethiraj College, Madras Christian College etc.), universities and other educational institutions in Tamil Nadu. The amount granted ranges from Rs.3,000 to Rs. 10,000 depending on the situation of the family and number of children being educated in the family. Total amount for this year scholarship is Rs.2,01,000/- for English speaking community while Rs.3,50,000/- for Tamil speaking community students.
